At just 45-square-meters, this house, designed by Peter Jungmann, is a fully-furnished and functional home which has some of the best mountain views in Austria. It can be found on a hillside near the village of Nussdorf, on the outskirts of Vienna.
The name Ufogel is a play on two words. It’s a combination of the words ‘UFO’ and ‘Vogel,’ which means bird in German. Ufogel was commissioned by a family as a holiday house that would integrate the spectacular views available at the same time as having as little impact on the natural environmental as possible.
It may seem too small to live in but the compact house has all the comforts of a traditional home. The main living space has a panoramic window that is designed to allow light to penetrate every part of the home while also maintaining the personal privacy of those inside.
The overall finish of larch wood creates a feeling of warmth in the contemporary designs and simple but intentional additions, like the coat hooks in the entryway or the glass kettle on the stove, make the space feel lived-in and homely.
The house was originally designed as a holiday home and the designer had this to say about it:
The Ufogel consists of 45 square meters of multi-functional living space, comfortably appointed with a kitchen unit, WC and designer shower. Large panorama windows bring nature indoors to you, while the curved timber structure covered with traditional shingles creates a feeling of warmth and security.
For those who are looking for a unique and stylish getaway that does not skimp on the view, the house is now available to rent year round. Can you see yourself living in something like this?
